Zai Yoga A slower kind of strong.

Restorative Yoga in Austin

A fully supported practice of long, passive holds designed for deep rest rather than stretch.

A fully supported restorative pose on a bolster

Restorative yoga asks almost nothing of the body. Every posture is fully supported by bolsters, blankets and blocks, so you can stay still for ten minutes or more without any muscular effort at all. It is a good fit after a hard week, during a stressful season, or whenever rest feels harder to find than it should.

What we offer

  • Four to six fully supported postures held for ten minutes or longer
  • Generous use of props so no muscle has to hold the position
  • Soft lighting and quiet music to support a slower nervous system
  • Light hands-on adjustments offered, always with consent
  • A guided rest at the close of every class

How to book a class

Reserve your mat through the booking form; because setup takes a few extra minutes per student, please arrive ten to fifteen minutes before class starts so you are settled before we begin.

Price

Restorative classes are priced like our other group sessions, by single class, pack or membership, confirmed when you book. Your first visit is free.

Questions

Will I actually fall asleep?

Some students do, and that is welcome here. The goal is rest, not performance, so there is nothing to get wrong.

Do I need any flexibility for this class?

None. Every posture is supported by props, so the class suits stiff, tired or simply busy bodies as much as flexible ones.
